Mental disorders in which distress appears as physical symptoms or as a splitting-off of memory and identity, without a physical disease to explain them.
Somatoform is genuine, unexplained physical symptoms (pain, paralysis) from distress, not faked; dissociative is a splitting-off of memory or identity (amnesia, fugue); both are ways the mind copes with stress; exclude physical disease first.
