A highly contagious viral illness — fever with cough, coryza and conjunctivitis (the 3 C's), Koplik spots, then a descending maculopapular rash. It is vaccine-preventable, and vitamin A reduces complications and mortality.
Unvaccinated or under-vaccinated children (and susceptible adults), particularly where vaccine coverage is low; a notifiable, outbreak-prone disease.
All children with measles (reduces mortality/complications)
Only for bacterial complications (e.g., pneumonia, otitis)
