In real life
For a family study, medical students visit a home and use a 24‑hour diet recall: "What did you eat yesterday, from morning till night?" They estimate quantities using standard cups and spoons, calculate the family's nutrient intake per consumption unit, and compare it with ICMR's recommended allowances. They find the family gets enough cereal but too little protein, vegetables and fruit.
