Before NRHM, a village PHC might have had no doctor, no medicines and a broken building. Under NHM, the same PHC got a doctor, nurses, a lab, free drugs, a 108/102 ambulance link, an ASHA in every village and untied funds for repairs managed by a local Rogi Kalyan Samiti. Institutional deliveries and immunisation rose sharply.
