In real life
India was declared polio‑free in 2014. Does that mean polio is eradicated? No. Wild poliovirus still circulates in a few countries, and it could be imported back. That's why India still vaccinates every child and still investigates every case of sudden floppy weakness (acute flaccid paralysis). India has eliminated wild polio. The world has not yet eradicated it.
