The reasoning: arterial clots are platelet-rich
High-shear arterial thrombosis depends heavily on platelet activation and aggregation. Antiplatelet therapy reduces MI, stent thrombosis and selected stroke recurrence, but increases GI, intracranial and procedural bleeding risk.
