The reasoning: confirm physiology before anatomy
Measure and plot height and weight, compare parental target, puberty and proportions, then exclude nutrition, chronic disease, thyroid disease, coeliac disease, inflammation and skeletal disorder. Neonatal hypoglycaemia, jaundice, micropenis, cryptorchidism, midline defects or anosmia suggest pituitary disease.
