Autoimmune hepatitis often presents with tiredness, jaundice, abnormal liver tests or even acute severe hepatitis. The pattern is usually hepatocellular: ALT and AST are prominent. Doctors look for raised IgG, autoantibodies such as ANA or SMA, and a biopsy pattern called interface hepatitis.
