Asbestos exposure occurs in construction, shipyards, insulation and asbestos-cement work. It classically causes lower-zone, subpleural fibrosis and pleural plaques, especially on the diaphragm. Microscopically, asbestos bodies may appear as ferruginous bodies. It increases lung-cancer risk and is strongly linked to mesothelioma.
