Modern TB care is susceptibility-guided, not based on old labels like new, relapse or default. For drug-susceptible pulmonary TB, patients commonly receive daily weight-band fixed-dose combinations with an intensive phase using HRZE followed by a continuation phase using HRE. Duration can change with site, age, drug resistance, HIV, pregnancy, liver disease or TB meningitis, so current programme guidance matters.
