The emergency sequence is: stabilize ABCs and sepsis, take blood cultures if this will not delay treatment, give dexamethasone when indicated and empiric IV antibiotics, then perform LP promptly if safe. CT comes before LP only when there is focal deficit, markedly depressed consciousness, papilloedema, recent seizure in context, severe immunocompromise, mass-effect concern, instability or bleeding risk.
