The temporal lobe contains the primary auditory cortex, the dominant posterior temporal language area, the hippocampus for new episodic memory, and the amygdala/uncus for emotion and smell-linked experiences. Temporal seizures can cause a strange smell, rising abdominal feeling, fear or déjà vu.
