A 26‑year‑old woman with a positive pregnancy test has lower abdominal pain and spotting. Transvaginal ultrasound shows an empty uterus, a small ring‑like mass beside the right ovary and free fluid in the pelvis: suspected ectopic pregnancy with haemoperitoneum. She is hypotensive and tachycardic, so she receives immediate resuscitation and urgent gynaecological surgical assessment.
