The reasoning: factor deficiency gives delayed deep bleeding
Haemophilia A is factor VIII deficiency; haemophilia B is factor IX deficiency. Both are usually X-linked and cause haemarthroses, muscle bleeds, retroperitoneal bleeding and delayed post-procedure bleeding. PT and platelet count are typically normal; aPTT may be prolonged and may correct on immediate mixing unless an inhibitor is present.
