Unlike platelet disorders, haemophilia often causes delayed or deep bleeding: swollen painful joints, muscle bleeds, retroperitoneal bleeding and prolonged bleeding after surgery or trauma. The aPTT may be prolonged while PT and platelet count are usually normal.
