The reasoning: enzymes from acini, alkali from ducts, matched to the meal
Acinar cells (CCK₁ receptors and M3 → Ca²⁺) exocytose zymogen granules: trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, proelastase, procarboxypeptidases, prophospholipase A₂, procolipase; active amylase, lipase, nucleases, cholesterol esterase. Duct cells (secretin → cAMP → CFTR; Cl⁻/HCO₃⁻ exchange via SLC26A6; basolateral NBCe1 and carbonic anhydrase) secrete HCO₃⁻ up to ~120–140 mmol/L at high flow, with Cl⁻ falling reciprocally; juice pH ≈ 7.8–8.4; 1–1.5 L/day.
