In real life
A 12‑year‑old girl has thigh pain, fever and a mild anaemia, suspected to be infection. Her X‑ray shows a permeative lesion in the middle of the femoral shaft with layers of periosteal new bone like an onion. MRI shows a large soft‑tissue mass. Biopsy: Ewing sarcoma. Fever and onion‑skin can mimic osteomyelitis.
